Kanata squeaks by Cornwall, 4-2Ed Lumley Arena Sun, Oct 07, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Kanata Stallions and the Cornwall Colts was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kanata emerged with a 4-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Joe Breslin at 10:43 of the third period. Derian Plouffe had two goals and one assist to lead the Stallions. Plouffe scored the first of his two goals at 18:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Devin Fullum assisted on the tally. Plouffe's next tally made the score 4-2 Kanata with one second1 seconds left in the third period. Brandon Petrie picked up the assist. Kanata excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Kanata additionally got points from Fullum, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Kanata came via Curtis Watson and Nic LaBurn, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their three power plays. The Colts were helped by Nicholas Santoro, who racked up one goal. Santoro scored 2:06 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Billy Ulrick assisted on the tally. Cornwall also got a goal from Alexandre Gendron as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Brandon Howes, who had one. Brandon Lane made 27 saves for Kanata on 29 shots. The Stallions incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. James Edwardson recorded 26 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
