Pembroke squeaks by Carleton Place, 4-2

The Pembroke Lumber Kings gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Carleton Place Canadians.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Stephen Hrehoriak's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Pembroke was led by Hrehoriak, who registered one goal. Hrehoriak scored 1:16 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. Brendan Mcguire picked up the assist.

Pembroke also got points from Ryan Hunter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Owen McDade, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Erickson also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Emilio Audi, who had one.

Carleton Place excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Canadians were held below their usual level of production. Carleton Place averages 4.2 goals per game. The Canadians forced the Lumber Kings goalie Darren Smith to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Carleton Place was helped by Evan Peterson, who finished with one goal. Peterson scored on the power play 18:27 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. The Canadians had taken the advantage when Pembroke's Sam Gleason got sent off for hooking. Alex Frere assisted on the tally. Carleton Place additionally got points from Larry Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Christian Weidauer, who had one.

The Lumber Kings' Smith stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Pembroke incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tony Kujava made 21 saves for Carleton Place on 25 shots. The Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
