Smiths Falls holds on for 6-5 win against Pembroke

The Pembroke Lumber Kings tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Smiths Falls Bears would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5.

A goal by Yannick Crete put Smiths Falls up 5-3 in the third period, but Pembroke pulled to within one on Stephen Hrehoriak's tally 4:37 into the third period.

The Bears were led by Michael Buonincontri, who grabbed three goals and one assist. Smiths Falls also got points from Crete, who also had one goal and two assists. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Ryan Eardley as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Patrick Sexton, who had two, Chris Maniccia, who had three, and Connor McLaren and Peter Soligo, who each chipped in one.

Smiths Falls was unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Ben Dalpe, who registered two goals and two assists. Dalpe scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:12 into the first period to make the score 2-2. An interference penalty on Sexton had put Pembroke on the power play. Jordan Larson assisted on the tally. Dalpe's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Smiths Falls with 4:37 left in the second period. Larson provided the assist. Pembroke additionally got points from Hrehoriak, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Larson, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Cody Trowell also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Michael Crocock, Charlie Connell, and Keegan Harper, who contributed one a piece.

Patrick Martin recorded 38 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Lumber Kings' Andy Munroe stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
