Kanata's comeback falls short, Brockville wins 7-5Brockville Memorial Centre Sun, Sep 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Kanata Stallions, but did just enough to escape with a 7-5 victory. Brockville led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Braves' Griffen Molino's scored at 16:02 in the first period to put Brockville up 4-0. Chris Roll and David Ferreira provided the spark for the Braves, combining for three goals and three assists. Roll grabbed two goals and two assists and Ferreira also notched one goal and one assist. Brockville's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Brockville forced Stallions' goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Brayden St-Germain made seven stops and Brandon Lane made 18. The Braves found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Brockville averages 3.4 goals per game. Brockville additionally got points from Ben Blasko, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ferreira, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nathan Todd also scored for Brockville. In addition, Brockville received assists from Jonathan Power, Brandon Cole, Taylor Henry, and Hayden Hulton, who contributed one a piece and Shane Riddell and Jay Kourkoulis, who each chipped in two. Kanata was led by Devin Fullum, who had two goals and one assist. Fullum scored the first of his two goals at 12:49 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Brockville. Fabian Walsh assisted on the tally. Fullum's next tally made the score 4-3 Brockville with 3:11 left in the second period. The Stallions had gained a power play chance when Ryan Stayner was whistled for tripping. Kanata also got a goal from Nic LaBurn as well. More assists for Kanata came via Teddy Suckow, Connor Cobbold, and Brandon Petrie, who contributed one a piece. Matthew Jenkins recorded 25 saves for the Braves. Brockville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
