Carleton Place rips Cornwall, 9-4

The Cornwall Colts had trouble finding ways to stop the Carleton Place Canadians, which beat Colts, 9-4.

Carleton Place made Cornwall's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 36 shots and forcing 27 saves. Matt Jenkins made six stops and Jordan Piccolino made 21. The Canadians found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Carleton Place averages 4.8 goals per game.

The Canadians were helped by Alex Frere, who grabbed two goals. Frere scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Carleton Place had gotten the advantage when the Colts' Jake Martin was sent off for hooking. Luke Edwards picked up the assist. Frere's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Carleton Place with 7:43 left in the second period. The Canadians had gained a power play chance when Kevin Hope was whistled for hooking. Kelly Summers assisted on the tally. Carleton Place additionally got points from Kevin Dufour, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Edwards, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, and Brock Edwards, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Alex Globke, who had two and Devin Campbell and Anthony McVeigh, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place came via Elias Ghantous, Jim Pearson, Brandon Seatter, Nic Erb, Luke Kasteel, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

Carleton Place was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Cornwall was helped by Marly Quince, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Quince scored 13:20 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Carleton Place. Roman Ammirato picked up the assist. Cornwall also got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Parker Krol also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Jake Bannister and Stephen Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Matt Couvrette rejected 31 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Colts incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
