Gloucester rips Hawkesbury, 4-1

The Hawkesbury Hawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Gloucester Rangers, which beat Hawks, 4-1.

Gloucester was led by goalie Gianmarco De Meis, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. De Meis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.96 entering the contest.

The Rangers were led by Jordan Gravel-Pilon, who had one goal. Gravel-Pilon scored short handed 5:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. Gloucester played down a man on Miguel Laurin's slashing.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 20:00 into the third period. Twelve fighting penalties were dished out along with 10 game misconducts.

The the Rangers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and four majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Gloucester surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Hawkesbury was unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Gloucester additionally got points from Chad Millett, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Christian Leger also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Keegan Rowe, Travis Meyer, Alexandre Boivin, and Stevie Ray Adams, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury forced the Rangers goalie De Meis to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 42 penalty minutes.

Hawkesbury was led by Yanik Laliberte, who scored the team's only goal. Laliberte scored 11:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester.

Gloucester registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. For the Rangers, Andrew Rossy, Patrick White, Gravel-Pilon, and Alexander Sifton were ejected from the contest. The Hawks' Brock Crossthwaite stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Team's Brett Costello, Carl Faucher, Nicholas Daly, and Ryan Patulli were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
