Clitsome lifts Cumberland over Cornwall, 5-2Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Sep 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads relied on the scoring touch of Eric Clitsome, who netted two goals, to beat the Cornwall Colts, 5-2. Clitsome's tallies came at 41 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2 and on the power play 5:36 into the second to make the score 3-2 Cumberland.Cumberland forced Cornwall's netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Jordan Piccolino made 24 stops and James Edwardson made nine. The Grads' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cornwall power plays. Cumberland also got points from Nick Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Zach Rodier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Justin Pelock also scored for Cumberland. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Mark Golberg, who had two and Philippe Paquette, Travis Douglas, David Higgs, and Trevor Packard, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland was unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The Colts were helped by Billy Ulrick, who had one goal. Ulrick scored short handed 2:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Cornwall was on a disadvantage when Khalid Alli went off the ice for holding. Sean King picked up the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Marly Quince as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Jake Martin and Kevin Hope, who each chipped in one. Devan Tremblay rejected 45 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Colts incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
