The Kanata Stallions and the Smiths Falls Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Kanata made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. The Stallions gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Stothart 10:07 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Kanata was led by Stothart, who had one goal. The Stallions stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kanata's offense rang up 37 shots on the Bears' net. The Stallions outdid their season average for goals scored. Kanata has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Kanata additionally got points from Nic LaBurn, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Derian Plouffe also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Curtis Watson and Brandon Petrie, who contributed one a piece. Smiths Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their three power plays. Kanata was unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Bears were helped by Jesse Blais, who tallied one goal. Blais scored 3:35 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Karson McCartney provided the assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Yannick Crete as well. Brandon Lane recorded 36 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Smiths Falls' Patrick Martin stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
