Carleton Place wins tough contest against Gloucester, 5-3

The game between the Carleton Place Canadians and the Gloucester Rangers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Carleton Place emerged with a 5-3 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kevin Dufour at 8:48 of the third period.

The Canadians got the win on the strength of a great game by Luke Martin, who had one goal and two assists. Martin scored 12:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stephen Bayliss picked up the assist.

Carleton Place forced Gloucester goalie Gianmarco De Meis to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Canadians could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Luke Edwards also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Elias Ghantous, Luke Kasteel, and Michael Maciag, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Carleton Place power plays.

Gloucester was helped by Alexander Sifton, who racked up one goal. Sifton scored 3:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Daniel Baslyk provided the assist. Gloucester also got points from Andrew Rossy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Alexandre Boivin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Nathanial Jessop, who had one and Cory Durocher, who had two.

Matt Couvrette made 26 saves for Carleton Place on 29 shots. De Meis recorded 35 saves for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
