Carleton Place blows out Ottawa, 4-1

The Ottawa Senators had trouble finding ways to stop the Carleton Place Canadians, which beat Senators, 4-1.

Carleton Place pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Canadians were paced by Luke Kasteel, who had one goal. Kasteel scored 10:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Luke Edwards provided the assist.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Ottawa power plays. The Canadians' offense rang up 49 shots on Ottawa's net.

Carleton Place also got points from Kevin Dufour, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Alex Globke, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Evan Peterson also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Luke Martin, who had two and Christian Weidauer and Brock Edwards, who contributed one a piece.

The Senators did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Ottawa puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Senators were led by Eric Witzel, who scored the team's only goal. Witzel scored 16:03 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Paul Landry picked up the assist.

Matt Couvrette recorded 15 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 45 saves for Ottawa on 49 shots. The Senators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
