Kanata's Petrie deadly on offense in 4-1 win against Cumberland

Brandon Petrie had two goals to lead the Kanata Stallions to a 4-1 victory over the Cumberland Grads.

Petrie's tallies came at 1:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata and short handed 18:47 into the first to make the score 2-0 Kanata.

Cumberland was stymied by Kanata netminder Brayden St-Germain, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, St-Germain will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.75 entering the contest.

The Stallions kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Devan Tremblay made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Fabian Walsh also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Derian Plouffe, who had two and Carl-Philippe Ouimet, Devin Fullum, Braedan Moffatt, and Alex Stothart, who contributed one a piece.

Cumberland put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kanata to score on any of its four power plays. The Stallions were unable to stop the Grads from sending pucks towards the net, and Cumberland eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Grads were led by Philippe Paquette, who scored the team's only goal. Paquette scored on the power play 17:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kanata. Cumberland had taken the advantage when Kanata's Fullum got sent off for high sticking. Matt Allan assisted on the tally.

The Stallions incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
