Smiths Falls outlasts Carleton Place, 4-2

The game between the Smiths Falls Bears and the Carleton Place Canadians was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Smiths Falls emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Michael Buonincontri at 4:02 of the second period.

In a losing effort, Carleton Place was paced by Alex Globke, who tallied two goals. Globke scored the first of his two goals at 4:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Christian Weidauer provided the assist. Globke's next tally made the score 2-2 with 19:29 left in the second period.

In a losing effort, the Canadians were led by Globke, who had two goals.

The Bears put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Carleton Place to score on any of its five power plays.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Chris Maniccia, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Peter Soligo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Adam Abu-Ali as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Cole Allard, Yannick Crete, Connor McLaren, Jeffrey Carroll, and Patrick Sexton, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians kept Smiths Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Martin made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Luke Edwards, who had one.

The Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Justin Laforest recorded 17 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
