Quince lifts Cornwall over Brockville, 6-0

Behind a great game by Marly Quince, who had two goals, the Cornwall Colts defeated the Brockville Braves, 6-0.

Quince scored on the power play at 6:03 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and again while 1:59 into the third to make the score 2-0 Cornwall.

Jordan Piccolino spearheaded the defensive effort for Cornwall, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 27 saves for the shutout. Piccolino certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.5 entering the contest.

The Colts pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:58 into the third period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with five game misconducts.

Cornwall excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Colts bested their season scoring average. This season, Cornwall averages 3.3 goals per contest.

Cornwall additionally got points from Sean King, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Trent Durocher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Stephen Johnson, who had two and Roman Ammirato, Nicholas Santoro, and Kevin Hope, who contributed one a piece.

Brockville's offense operated below it season average. The Braves put an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. Brockville struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Colts to score five power play goals on six chances.

Team's Mark Hough and Jake Martin were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Braves' starting goalie, Cody Karpinski, made 20 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Matthew Jenkins, who stopped two shots. Brockville ended with 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. For the Braves, Hayden Hulton and Kevin Kirisits were ejected from the contest.
