Brockville's comeback falls short, Cornwall wins 4-2Brockville Memorial Centre Fri, Sep 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Cornwall Colts managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end. Cornwall led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Colts' Roman Ammirato's scored on the power play at 10:56 in the second period to put Cornwall up 4-1. The Colts were paced by Andrew Ming, who racked up one goal and one assist. Ming scored 8:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall. Kevin Hope assisted on the tally. Cornwall put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brockville to score on any of its four power plays. Cornwall additionally got points from Ammirato, who also registered one goal and one assist. Marly Quince also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Matthew Cruickshank, who had two and Nicholas Santoro, Stephen Johnson, and Brandon Howes, who each chipped in one. The Braves kept the Colts' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Jenkins made 32 saves on 34 shots. Brockville was helped by Nathan Todd, who had one goal. Todd scored 1:44 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Chris Roll picked up the assist. Brockville also got a goal from David Ferreira as well. In addition, Brockville received assists from Ben Blasko, Brett Garvey, and Anthony Pino, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves' Cody Karpinski stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Brockville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
