Behind a great game by Michael Buonincontri, who had two goals and two assists, the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Ottawa Senators, 5-2.

Buonincontri's tallies came on the power play at 4:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls and on the power play 5:42 into the second to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls.

Smiths Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The Bears kept Ottawa's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 26 saves on 31 shots.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Chris Maniccia, who also had one goal and three assists and Yannick Crete, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Jeffrey Carroll as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Kevin Millejours, Pierre Ouellette, and Peter Soligo, who each chipped in one.

The Senators were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of nine man advantages.

Ottawa was helped by Michael Evelyn, who registered one goal. Evelyn scored 9:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Anthony Bada provided the assist. Ryan Collins also scored for Ottawa. Patrick Martin rejected 28 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Senators ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Ottawa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe Shecter was ejected from the game.
