Blasko's hat trick boosts Brockville over Kanata, 7-2

Ben Blasko netted a hat trick to lead the Brockville Braves over the Kanata Stallions, 7-2.

Blasko got on the scoresheet 55 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 1:32 into the second and at 11:02 into the second.

Brockville's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Brockville made Kanata's goalies to work in net, racking up 47 shots and forcing 40 saves. Brandon Lane made 22 stops and Brayden St-Germain made 18. The Braves' goal total was higher than their season average. Brockville has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Braves were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. Brockville was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 14 chances. The defensemen of the Braves were also effective in the Stallions' zone, and came away with two goals.

Brockville also got points from Zach Todd, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kevin Kirisits, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brockville also got a goal from Brett Garvey as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Jonathan Power, who had three, David Ferreira and Jay Kourkoulis, who each chipped in one, and Shane Riddell and Erik Brown, who contributed two a piece.

Kanata was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled 16 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time.

The Stallions were led by Derian Plouffe, who racked up one goal and one assist. Plouffe scored short handed 5:02 into the third period to make the score 7-2 Brockville. Kanata was on a disadvantage when Fabian Walsh went off the ice for high sticking. Tim Kavanaugh provided the assist. Joe Breslin also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Mac Howey, who had one.

Matthew Jenkins recorded 28 saves for Brockville. The Braves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Walter was ejected from the game. Team's Carl-Philippe Ouimet and Braedan Moffatt were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
