Ottawa blows out Cornwall, 5-2Kanata Recreational Complex A Sat, Sep 08, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ottawa Senators had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Cornwall Colts. Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 19 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:27 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Senators were led by Ben Robillard, who had two goals. Robillard scored the first of his two goals at 7:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Robillard's next tally made the score 4-1 Ottawa with 19:49 left in the third period. Ottawa also got points from Dylan Giberson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Greg Jansz as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Joe Shecter, who had two and Paul Landry and Luc Deschamps, who each chipped in one. Cornwall was helped by Marly Quince, who finished with one goal. Quince scored 35 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Ottawa. Kevin Hope provided the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Roman Ammirato, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Lawson MacDonald, who had one. Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 24 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Ottawa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stephen Inman was ejected from the game. The Colts' Matt Jenkins stopped 16 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Cornwall totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For the Colts, Quince was ejected from the game.
