Gloucester holds on for 6-5 win against Smiths Falls

The Smiths Falls Bears tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Gloucester Rangers held on for a 6-5 victory.

Gloucester took a 6-2 lead during the third period, only to have Smiths Falls storm back on a Jeffrey Carroll goal 19:46 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Rangers' offense was sparked by Alexandre Boivin, as he ended with five assists in a victory against the Bears.

Gloucester's goal total was higher than its season average. The Rangers have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Gloucester also got points from Brett Varrin, who also registered one goal and two assists. Gloucester also had goals scored by Cory Durocher, who had two and Keegan Rowe, Patrick White, and Travis Meyer, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Chad Millett, who had one and Andrew Rossy, who had two.

Gloucester was unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Daniele Disipio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Michael Buonincontri, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Jesse Blais as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Patrick Sexton, who had two and Kevin Millejours, Chris Maniccia, Yannick Crete, Karson McCartney, and Tyler Akeson, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers' Gunner Rivers stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Gloucester totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Rangers, Austin Romzek and Millett were ejected from the contest. Patrick Martin made 24 saves for Smiths Falls on 30 shots. The Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
