St. Louis survives Springfield comeback, wins 3-2

The St. Louis Bandits survived a determined comeback attempt by the Springfield Jr. Blues on the way to a 3-2 win.

St. Louis made the score 3-1 on a goal by Luc Boby at 4:39 in the third period, and Springfield got as close as 3-2 when Kevin Walters scored 19:43 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, the Jr. Blues face elimination next time out.

The Bandits were led by Boby, who racked up one goal.

St. Louis' offense rang up 34 shots on Springfield's net.

St. Louis additionally got points from Cody Ganchar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Josh Dangel also scored for St. Louis. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Greg Johnson and Stephen Bopp, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues forced the Bandits goalie Spencer Viele to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Springfield was helped by Josef Pontasch, who registered one goal. Pontasch scored 19:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Kyle Cook assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Chris Sitler, who had two.

Viele recorded 31 saves for St. Louis. The Bandits incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jr. Blues' Gabe Antoni stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Springfield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
