The game between the Port Huron Fighting Falcons and the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Port Huron emerged with a 4-2 win. The Fighting Falcons gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jake Goldberg 1:49 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The win gave Port Huron a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. The Fighting Falcons were sparked by Goldberg, who registered one goal. Port Huron's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kalamazoo power plays. The Fighting Falcons kept Kalamazoo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Okicki made 28 saves on 32 shots. Port Huron also got a goal from Kody Polin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Huron were Bret Lewandowski, who had two and Easton Powers, Logan Lemirande, and Maxwell Reavis, who each chipped in one. The Jr. K Wings stifled Port Huron's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kalamazoo was led by Nick Kovalchik, who had one goal and one assist. Kovalchik scored 10:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kalamazoo. Austin Hervey assisted on the tally. Kyle Gattelaro also scored for Kalamazoo. In addition, Kalamazoo received assists from Alex Brooks, who had two. The Fighting Falcons' Max Milosek stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Port Huron incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jr. K Wings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
