Richter leads Bismarck over Austin, 6-3

Tyler Richter was all over the ice for the Bismarck Bobcats, as he tallied one goal and four assists in Bismarck's 6-3 win over the Austin Bruins.

Richter beat Tyler Bruggeman with a shot 5:12 into the first period on the power play to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. The Bobcats had gotten the advantage when Austin's Jeremy Finger was sent off for checking from behind. John Furgele provided the assist. Richter dished an assist on Castan Sommer's goal that made the score 2-0 Bismarck at 6:43 into the first period. He then added assists on Sommer's goal at 3:35 into the second, on Furgele's goal at 11:57 into the second, and on Francis DeAugustine's goal at 18:31 into the second.

The win gave Bismarck a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

The Bruins were unable to stop the Bobcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Bismarck eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Bismarck additionally got points from Furgele, who also tallied one goal and one assist and DeAugustine, who also had one goal and two assists. Bismarck also got a goal from Ryan Callahan as well. More assists for Bismarck came via Danny Ray, Shane Omdahl, Nicholas Miglio, Daniel Kovar, and Patrick Moore, who each chipped in one.

Austin forced the Bobcats goalie Aaron Nelson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Bruins were helped by John Kirby, who tallied one goal. Kirby scored on the power play 8:53 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Bismarck. A hooking penalty on Jeremy OKeefe had put Austin on the power play. Jake Flynn picked up the assist. John Simonson also scored for Austin. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Connor Quinn and CJ Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Nelson rejected 28 shots on goal for Bismarck. The Bobcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Bruins' Bruggeman stopped 39 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Austin incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
