Fairbanks outlasts Port Huron, 4-3

The game between the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and the Port Huron Fighting Falcons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fairbanks emerged with a 4-3 win.

The Ice Dogs gained the winning advantage on a goal by Evan Wilson 5:38 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Fairbanks was sparked by Wilson, who finished with one goal.

With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Ice Dogs exceeded the 30.0 shots they average per game this year.

Fairbanks also got a goal from Garret Clemment as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Pete Spratte, JT Osborn, Nick Hinz, Jakob Romo, Tayler Munson, and Rudy Sulmonde, who each chipped in one.

Port Huron put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.3 it averages per game.

The Fighting Falcons were helped by Mitch Sand, who tallied one goal. Sand scored on the power play 7:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Port Huron earned a power play opportunity when Sulmonde was put in the box for interference. Alex Globke assisted on the tally. Logan Lemirande also scored for Port Huron. More assists for Port Huron came via Jake Goldberg and Rick DeRosa, who contributed two a piece.

Steve Perry recorded 23 saves for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Max Milosek rejected 31 shots on goal for the Fighting Falcons. Port Huron incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
