Amarillo blows out Bismarck, 6-2

The Amarillo Bulls had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Bismarck Bobcats.

Joe Kozlak had two goals to lead Amarillo to victory. Kozlak found the back of the net short handed 52 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo and again while 18:32 into the second to make the score 4-2 Amarillo.

The Bulls' penalty kill excelled, as Amarillo gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Bulls stifled Bismarck's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Amarillo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Bulls average 3.3 goals per contest. With 39 shots on target during the contest, Amarillo exceeded the 30.3 shots it averages per game this year.

Amarillo additionally got points from Tyler Deresky, who also had one goal and two assists and Mike Davis, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Amarillo also got a goal from Brooks Behling as well. More assists for Amarillo came via Karl Beckman and Mike Erickson, who each chipped in one.

The Bobcats stifled the Bulls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Bismarck's offense was clicking better than usual and put 27 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.7 shots per game it averages.

The Bobcats were helped by Francis DeAugustine, who finished with one goal. DeAugustine scored 2:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. Daniel Zawacki assisted on the tally. Donald Olivieri also scored for Bismarck. Other players who recorded assists for Bismarck were Danny Ray, who had two.

Mike Taffe recorded 25 saves for Amarillo. The Bulls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bismarck's Tommy Burke stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Bobcats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
