Christie's big game bests Amarillo in 6-3 Topeka win

The Topeka RoadRunners' Brian Christie had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Amarillo Bulls.

Christie got on the board by slotting home a goal 9:48 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Amarillo. Andrew OLeary assisted on the tally. Christie dished an assist on Trace Strahle's goal that made the score 3-1 Amarillo at 8:45 into the second period. He then added assists on Ryan White's goal at 5:33 into the third, on Kyle Sharkey's goal at 12:09 into the third, and on White's goal at 16:42 into the third.

After the loss made the series score 1-2 in the best of five series, Amarillo faces elimination next time out.

Topeka pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The RoadRunners put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulls to score on any of their six power plays. Topeka kept Amarillo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mike Taffe made 30 saves on 36 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Topeka also got a goal from Chris Bond as well. In addition, Topeka received assists from Ben Bahe, who had two and Richard Young and Sean Gaffney, who contributed one a piece.

The Bulls were helped by Omar Mullan, who finished with two goals. Mullan scored the first of his two goals at 4:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amarillo. Clint Carlisle provided the assist. Mullan's next tally made the score 3-0 Amarillo with 16:17 left in the second period. Carlisle assisted on the tally. Amarillo also got points from John Rey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Amarillo came via Matt Johnson, Sam Johnson, and Ryan Taylor, who each chipped in one.

Peter Traber rejected 22 shots on goal for the RoadRunners. Topeka registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Amarillo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
