Nepean squeaks by Cornwall, 4-3Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Apr 22, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Nepean Raiders escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Cornwall Colts. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ryan MacLean at 15:31 of the third period. The win by Nepean clinched the best of seven series at 4-3. MacLean had two goals to lead the Raiders to victory. Cornwall was unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Nepean additionally got points from Ben Hutton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dalen Hedges also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Kenneth Neil, who had three and Ryan Johnston, Keenan Hodgson, Vincent Llorca, and Craig Cowie, who contributed one a piece. The Colts were led by Kevin Hope, who tallied two goals. Hope scored the first of his two goals at 4:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Roman Ammirato picked up the assist. Hope's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:29 left in the third period. Michael Borkowski provided the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Kyle Baun as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Tyson Spink, who had two. Matt Zawadzki rejected 24 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lukas Hafner recorded 42 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
