Huge game by Norris boosts Nepean over Cornwall, 5-2

Behind a great game by Brent Norris, who had two goals and one assist, the Nepean Raiders defeated the Cornwall Colts, 5-2.

Norris scored at 10:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean and again while 11:28 into the third to make the score 4-2 Nepean.

The win gave Nepean a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Raiders forced Cornwall goalie Lukas Hafner to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Nepean additionally got points from Ryan Johnston, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Tanner Williams as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Vincent Llorca, who had two and Ryan MacLean, Dalen Hedges, Brandon Watt, Craig Cowie, and Ben Hutton, who contributed one a piece.

The Colts were helped by Tyson Spink, who tallied one goal. Spink scored 11:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Kevin Hope assisted on the tally. Kyle Baun also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Stephen Johnson, who had one and Michael Borkowski, who had two.

Nepean's Matt Zawadzki stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lukas Hafner made 32 saves for Cornwall on 37 shots. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
