Stouffville downs Whitby in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Stouffville Spirit's Brandon Gaudette scored 9:48 into overtime to beat the Whitby Fury, 4-3 (OT).

The win by Stouffville clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Spirit came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Stouffville fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Whitby's Devin Shore at 6:37 in the third period. The Spirit knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Christian Powers at 19:49 in the third period.

Stouffville was led by Gaudette, who had one goal.

The Spirit kept the Fury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Feaver made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Stouffville also got points from Alex Botten, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Drake Caggiula, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Paul Geiger, who had two and Josh Chapman, Chris Porter, and Andrew Doyle, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Whitby was helped by Matt Davis, who tallied one goal. Davis scored 41 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. Jack Lewis also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Sam Gray, who had two and Charles Cooper and Peter Neal, who contributed one a piece.

Jonathan Hall recorded 28 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Fury incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
