Caggiula nets hat trick, leads Stouffville to 7-1 win over Whitby

Drake Caggiula netted a hat trick to lead the Stouffville Spirit over the Whitby Fury, 7-1.

Caggiula got on the scoresheet 37 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 8:04 into the second and at 19:34 into the second.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Whitby faces elimination next time out.

Stouffville's Jonathan Hall was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 40 saves and let only one puck past him. Hall managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.25 prior to the game.

The Spirit took advantage of the Fury's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

Stouffville also got points from Andrew Doyle, who also had one goal and three assists. Stouffville also got a goal from Christian Powers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Paul Geiger, who had two and Josh Chapman, Sean Power, Eric Wintjes, and Leonard Dziemianko, who contributed one a piece.

Whitby's offense rang up 41 shots on Stouffville's net.

The Spirit incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Fury's starting goalie, Tyler Feaver, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Donald Edwards, who stopped three shots. Whitby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
