Topeka downs Texas in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Jake Lynes gave the Topeka RoadRunners a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Texas Tornado when he scored 12:04 into the extra period.

The win gave Topeka a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Texas was stymied by the RoadRunners netminder Peter Traber, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Traber will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.83 entering the contest.

Topeka was sparked by Lynes, who grabbed one goal.

The RoadRunners' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with nine shots between them.

Topeka also got a goal from Kevin Patterson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Trace Strahle and Brian Christie, who each chipped in one.

The Tornado were led by Marc Biggs, who scored the team's only goal. Biggs scored on the power play 19:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Texas earned a power play opportunity when Ryan White was put in the box for slashing. Jack Prince picked up the assist.

Topeka incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Frederick Leisner made 20 saves for the Tornado on 22 shots. Texas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
