The Stouffville Spirit tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Whitby Fury would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Whitby took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Stouffville storm back on a Josh Chapman goal 8:54 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

With the win, the Fury evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Whitby was led by Taylor Best, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Best scored 16:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. Devin Shore provided the assist.

The Fury forced the Spirit goalie Jonathan Hall to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Whitby also got points from Matt Davis, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sam Gray also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Nick Neal and Jack Lewis, who contributed one a piece.

Stouffville was helped by Michael Robinson, who racked up one goal. Robinson scored 4:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Alex Botten picked up the assist. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Robert Rawlins, who had one and Paul Geiger, who had two.

Whitby's Tyler Feaver stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Fury totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Whitby, Kevin Stevens was ejected from the game. Hall rejected 34 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Spirit ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Robert Acton was ejected from the game.
