Wenatchee downs Alaska in overtime, 2-1 (OT)MTA Events Center Sat, Apr 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Evan Schmidbauer gave the Wenatchee Wild a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Alaska Avalanche when he scored 8:46 into the extra period. The win by Wenatchee clinched the best of five series at 3-2. Alaska was stymied by the Wild netminder Greg Lewis, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Lewis will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.41. Wenatchee was led by Schmidbauer, who finished with one goal. Wenatchee also got a goal from Blake Roubos as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Kyle Huson and Jerad Tafoya, who contributed one a piece. The Avalanche forced the Wild goalie Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Alaska did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Avalanche were led by Wehebe Darge, who scored the team's only goal. Darge scored 18:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tanner Fahlstedt assisted on the tally. Wenatchee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bodhi Engum rejected 27 shots on goal for Alaska. The Avalanche registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
