Wenatchee blows out Alaska, 4-1

The Wenatchee Wild had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Alaska Avalanche.

The win gave Wenatchee a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Alaska was stymied by the Wild netminder Robert Nichols, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Nichols managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.5 prior to the game.

Wenatchee was paced by Blake Roubos, who had one goal. Roubos scored on the power play 16:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wenatchee. An interference penalty on Evan Hesse had put the Wild on the power play. Trace Redmond provided the assist.

Wenatchee took advantage of the Avalanche's penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Shawn Pauly as well. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Tyler Rostenkowski, who had two and Max McHugh, Jerad Tafoya, and Matt Cope, who contributed one a piece.

Alaska was led by Evan Janssen, who scored the team's only goal. Janssen scored on the power play 34 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Joe Schmitz picked up the assist.

The Wild incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nick Kulmanovsky recorded 15 saves for the Avalanche. Alaska incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
