The Fairbanks Ice Dogs used a sparkling performance by Alex Fons to take down the Kenai River Brown Bears, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Fairbanks' 3-0 shutout victory. The win gave the Ice Dogs a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. Fairbanks was sparked by Garret Clemment, who finished with one goal. Clemment scored 14:14 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. Sean ORourke picked up the assist. The Ice Dogs relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as JT Osborn, Alec Hajdukovich and Clemment took 17 of the team's 30 shots. Fairbanks also got a goal from Tayler Munson as well. Kenai River was led by Zac Lazzaro, who took five shots. Fairbanks' Fons stopped 28 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Ice Dogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Austin Severson made 27 saves for the Brown Bears on 30 shots. Kenai River incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
