MacLean leads Kalamazoo to shutout victory over Traverse CityBlue Rink Fri, Apr 06, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Kenneth MacLean made 25 saves to complete the shutout and led the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings to a 4-0 win against the Traverse City North Stars. The win gave Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. The Jr. K Wings were led by Brandon Flood, who tallied one goal and one assist. Flood scored 58 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kalamazoo. Alex Brooks picked up the assist. Kalamazoo stifled Traverse City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Robbie Payne also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Andrew Graves, Nick Kovalchik, Christian George, and Danny Hamburg, who contributed one a piece. The North Stars relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Sean Murphy, Will Badner and Nathan Harris took 13 of the team's 25 shots. The Jr. K Wings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Traverse City's Kyle Laslo stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The North Stars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
