Amarillo rips Odessa, 4-1Ector County Coliseum Tue, Apr 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls were firing on all cylinders against the Odessa Jackalopes, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulls emerged with a 4-1 win. The win by Amarillo clinched the best of five series at 3-1. The Bulls were led by Greg Gibson, who had one goal. Gibson scored 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Mike Erickson assisted on the tally. Odessa was unable to stop Amarillo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Amarillo additionally got points from Erickson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Amarillo also got a goal from Ryan Cole as well. More assists for Amarillo came via John Rey, Brandon Lubin, Karl Beckman, Brooks Behling, Luke Jenkins, Ryan Taylor, and Zane Popilock, who contributed one a piece. The Jackalopes were led by Lawrence Cornellier, who scored the team's only goal. Cornellier scored on the power play 16:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. Odessa had taken the advantage when Amarillo's Beckman got sent off for slashing. Jared Docken provided the assist. The Bulls' Gregg Gruehl stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Amarillo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Connor Hellebuyck made 42 saves for the Jackalopes on 46 shots. Odessa totaled 55 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
