Atlanta Knights beats Long Island Royals 4-3 after comeback scare

Atlanta Knights survived a determined comeback attempt by Long Island Royals on the way to a 4-3 win.

Atlanta Knights made the score 4-2 on a goal by Alex Brissette at 16:43 in the third period, and Long Island Royals got as close as 4-3 when Christopher Zaverdas scored 19:28 into the third period.

Brent Kallio had two goals to lead Atlanta Knights to victory. Kallio's tallies came on the power play at 7:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta Knights and 11:52 into the first to make the score 2-0 Atlanta Knights.

Atlanta Knights forced Long Island Royals goalie Brendan Jones to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

Atlanta Knights also got a goal from Michael Pearson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Atlanta Knights were Jordan Simmonds, who had two and Dave Castellion, Jeremy Bost, and Mikey Edwards, who each chipped in one.

Long Island Royals additionally got points from Matt Goldberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. JT Hall also scored for Long Island Royals. More assists for Long Island Royals came via Vincent Monfredo, who had one.

Derek Willms rejected 24 shots on goal for Atlanta Knights. Atlanta Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jones recorded 50 saves for Long Island Royals. Long Island Royals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
