Bruggeman, Austin blank Alexandria, 4-0

Tyler Bruggeman was superb between the pipes for the Austin Bruins, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Alexandria Blizzard.

After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, Alexandria faces elimination next time out.

Austin was led by Charlie Adams, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Adams scored on the power play 1:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Austin. A high sticking penalty on Seth Ronsberg had put the Bruins on the power play. John Kirby provided the assist.

Austin stifled the Blizzard's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins' offense rang up 41 shots on Alexandria's net.

Austin also got points from Matt Hansen, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Austin Nelson also scored for Austin. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Kody Reuter, Nolan Kirley, and Brandon Wahlin, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard were led by Casey Purpur, who took four shots.

Bruggeman recorded 27 saves for Austin. The Bruins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alexandria's Michael Bitzer stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
