Port Colborne falls to St. Catharines in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Kyle Woodhouse gave the St. Catharines Falcons a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Port Colborne Pirates when he scored 6:24 into the extra period.

The win gave St. Catharines a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Although the Falcons was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Port Colborne kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Pirates got to within 3-2 on a goal by Carson Minor at 5:35 in the third period.

St. Catharines' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Port Colborne power plays. Port Colborne was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 52 shots on goal.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Broderick Kelly, who also registered one goal and one assist, Riley Jakobschuk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Luke Karaim, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Andy Sturtz, Jesse Miller, and Johnson Andrews, who contributed one a piece.

The Pirates stifled the Falcons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Colborne kept St. Catharines' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brad Pope made 33 saves on 36 shots.

Port Colborne also got a goal from Jordan Warren as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Michael Sharp, Nick Schiro, James Tyminski, and Drake Heart, who each chipped in one.

The Falcons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Pirates' Real Cormier stopped 48 shots out of the 52 that he faced. Port Colborne incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
