Bismarck survives penalties, beats Aberdeen, 3-0Odde Ice Center Fri, Apr 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Bismarck Bobcats were able to defeat the Aberdeen Wings, 3-0. After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, Aberdeen faces elimination next time out. Bismarck was sparked by Nicholas Miglio, who tallied one goal. Miglio scored 4:22 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. Adam Knochenmus assisted on the tally. The Bobcats stifled the Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Aberdeen was unable to stop Bismarck from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bobcats eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Bismarck additionally got points from Castan Sommer, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tyler Richter also scored for Bismarck. More assists for Bismarck came via Danny Ray, Shane Omdahl, Francis DeAugustine, and Daniel Kovar, who each chipped in one. The Wings relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Cory Ward, Cullen Hurley and Steve Obarzanek took 10 of the team's 18 shots. Aaron Nelson made 18 saves for Bismarck on 18 shots. The Bobcats incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aberdeen's Marcus Zelzer stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Wings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
