Cornwall outlasts Hawkesbury, 3-2

The game between the Cornwall Colts and the Hawkesbury Hawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cornwall emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Michael Borkowski at 9:51 of the third period.

The win by the Colts clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Cornwall was sparked by Borkowski, who finished with one goal and one assist.

The Colts' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Hawkesbury power plays.

Cornwall additionally got points from Tyson Spink, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trent Durocher also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Mark Hough, Connor Primeau, and Tylor Spink, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury's offense rang up 35 shots on Cornwall's net.

The Hawks were helped by Brandon Bussey, who registered one goal. Bussey scored short handed 8:01 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Hawkesbury played down a man on Holden Anderson's elbowing. Carl Faucher assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Alex Stothart as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Philippe Saviuk, Yanik Laliberte, and Sebastien Lavoie, who contributed one a piece.

Lukas Hafner rejected 33 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Carmine Guerriero recorded 20 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
