Cornwall downs Hawkesbury, 5-2Ed Lumley Arena Wed, Mar 28, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Tylor Spink grabbed one point to lead the Cornwall Colts to a 5-2 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks. The win gave Cornwall a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Hawkesbury was unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Colts were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 12 chances. Cornwall also got points from Mark Hough, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Mark Rath, who also registered one goal and two assists, Kyle Baun, who also had one goal and two assists, and Michael Borkowski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Stephen Johnson, Drew Henry, and Brandon Howes, who contributed one a piece. The Hawks were helped by Nick Samoluk, who racked up one goal. Samoluk scored on the power play 14:43 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Hawkesbury had taken the advantage when Cornwall's Henry got sent off for boarding. Philippe Saviuk assisted on the tally. Stephen Hrehoriak also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Holden Anderson and Anthony Sanniti, who each chipped in one. The Colts' Lukas Hafner stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Carmine Guerriero made 36 saves for the Hawks on 41 shots. Hawkesbury incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
