Nepean outlasts Pembroke, 3-2Pembroke Memorial Center Tue, Apr 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders and the Pembroke Lumber Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Nepean made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Keenan Hodgson secured the win for the Raiders with a goal in the third period. With the win, Nepean evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Dalen Hedges had a great game for the Raiders, netting two goals. Hedges found the back of the net 12 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 15:00 into the second to make the score 2-2. Nepean put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pembroke to score on any of its three power plays. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Kenneth Neil, who had two and Ryan Johnston, Ryan MacLean, Brandon Watt, and Ben Hutton, who contributed one a piece. The Lumber Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Nepean power plays. Pembroke was helped by Jonathan Milley, who racked up one goal. Milley scored 5:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Ben Dalpe assisted on the tally. Pembroke also got points from Dalpe, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Brendan Mcguire, Chris King, and Brandon Gagne, who each chipped in one. Matt Zawadzki rejected 23 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Francis Dupuis recorded 22 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
