The Thamesford Trojans gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Lambeth Lancers. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Matt Higgins' goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The win moved Thamesford to down 2-0 in the best of seven series. The Trojans pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Thamesford was sparked by Higgins, who racked up one goal. Higgins scored 16:06 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Thamesford. The Trojans kept Lambeth's goalie busy throughout the game, and JP Trudell made 33 saves on 37 shots. Thamesford additionally got points from Travis Parkin, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brandyn Di Domenico, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jake Hunter also scored for Thamesford. More assists for Thamesford came via Judson Couture, who had one. The Lancers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Thamesford power plays. Thamesford was unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Lambeth was helped by Anthony Sachetti, who finished with one goal. Sachetti scored 19:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lambeth. Lambeth also got a goal from Tanner Smith as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Kale Corbeth, who had one. The Trojans' Chris Walker stopped 43 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Lancers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lambeth ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Huston was ejected from the game. |
