Stouffville blows out Georgetown, 4-1

The Georgetown Raiders had trouble finding ways to stop the Stouffville Spirit, which beat Raiders, 4-1.

The win moved Stouffville to down 1-0 in the best of seven series.

Drake Caggiula had two goals to lead the Spirit to victory. Caggiula found the back of the net 1:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville and again while on the power play 6:08 into the second to make the score 3-1 Stouffville.

Stouffville was led by goalie Jonathan Hall, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Hall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.21 entering the contest.

The Spirit forced Georgetown's goalies to work between the pipes, firing 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Steven Racine made 20 stops and Michael Giugovaz made eight. Stouffville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their three power plays.

Thomas Tsicos also scored for Stouffville. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Chris Porter and Paul Geiger, who each chipped in one and Christian Finch, Andrew Doyle, and Brandon Gaudette, who contributed two a piece.

Georgetown's offense rang up 34 shots on the Spirit's net.

The Raiders were led by Stephen Genua, who scored the team's only goal. Genua scored 18:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Lopes assisted on the tally.

Stouffville incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Georgetown incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
