Brampton survived a determined comeback attempt by Toronto on the way to a 4-2 win. A goal by Ashley Riggs put Brampton up 4-1 in the third period, but Toronto pulled to within two on Kori Cheverie's tally 14:16 into the third period. Brampton was led by Britney Selina, who registered one goal and one assist. Selina scored 9:53 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Brampton. Gillian Apps provided the assist. Brampton forced Toronto goalie Erika Vanderveer to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Brampton also got a goal from Vicki Bendus as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Molly Engstrom, who had two. Jennifer Brine also scored for Toronto. More assists for Toronto came via Meagan Aarts, Lexie Hoffmeyer, and Brooke Beazer, who each chipped in one. Sonja van der Bliek rejected 28 shots on goal for Brampton. Brampton avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays. Vanderveer recorded 40 saves for Toronto. Toronto finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage. |
