Brantford's Hawke deadly on offense in 4-2 win against Cambridge

Trent Hawke had four goals to lead the Brantford Golden Eagles to a 4-2 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Hawke notched his first tally 13:58 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:22 into the second, at 1:35 into the third, and at 19:27 into the third.

The win by Brantford clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

The Golden Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Cambridge was unable to stop Brantford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Eagles eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

In addition, Brantford received assists from Matt Prinsen, Jeff Swift, Matt Quilty, Dave Lazurus, and Dillan Walker, who contributed one a piece.

The Winter Hawks forced Brantford goalie Bryce O Hagan to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Cambridge was helped by Ryan Clarke, who had one goal. Clarke scored 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Josh Timpano provided the assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Lawrence Pagnan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Cody Gratton, who had one.

Bryce O Hagan made 34 saves for the Golden Eagles on 36 shots. Brantford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Winter Hawks' Brendan Gorecki stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
