Stratford downs Elmira in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Stratford Cullitons pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Elmira Sugar Kings on a clutch goal by Pat Clifford.

The win by Stratford broke a deadlock and gave the Cullitons a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Stratford pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

The Cullitons were led by Clifford, who tallied one goal. Clifford scored 10:15 into to make the score 3-2 Stratford. Trevor Sauder assisted on the tally.

Elmira was unable to stop Stratford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cullitons eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

Stratford also got points from Steven Dol, who also had one goal and one assist and Jared Culliton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Stratford received assists from Ray Huether, who had one and Brock Reynolds, who had two.

The Sugar Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Stratford power plays. Elmira's offense rang up 52 shots on Stratford's net.

The Sugar Kings were led by Lukas Baleshta, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Baleshta scored on the power play 4:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Elmira earned a power play opportunity when Andrew Lorimer was put in the box for kneeing. Andrew Smith provided the assist. Elmira also got a goal from Brady Campbell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Scott Nagy, who had one.

Jesse Raymond recorded 50 saves for the Cullitons. Nick Horrigan rejected 51 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
