Hawkesbury outlasts Carleton Place, 4-3

The game between the Hawkesbury Hawks and the Carleton Place Canadians was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Hawkesbury emerged with a 4-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Remi Elie secured the win for the Hawks with a goal in the third period.

The win by Hawkesbury clinched the best of seven series at 0-4.

Elie had a great game for the Hawks, netting two goals.

Hawkesbury also got a goal from Antonio Roumeliotis as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Nicholas Daly, Yanik Laliberte, Carl Faucher, Nick Samoluk, Holden Anderson, Brett Costello, and Anthony Sanniti, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 12 chances.

The Canadians were led by Ben Murphy, who racked up two goals. Murphy scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Carleton Place had gained a power play chance when Ty Perry was whistled for checking from behind. Dustin Darou provided the assist. Murphy's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 12:13 left in the third period. The Canadians had gotten the advantage when Hawkesbury's Laliberte was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Mac Olson picked up the assist. Luke Martin also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Kyle Phillips, Daniel Kolenda, Anthony McVeigh, and Christian Weidauer, who contributed one a piece.

Carmine Guerriero rejected 26 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. The Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Perry was ejected from the game. Carleton Place's Brodie Barrick stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Canadians ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For Carleton Place, Elias Ghantous was ejected from the game.
