Hawkesbury rides Guerriero to victory over Carleton Place, 4-1

Carleton Place Arena    Sat, Mar 17, 2012

Brandon Bussey was all over the ice for the Hawkesbury Hawks, as he tallied two goals in Hawkesbury's 4-1 win over the Carleton Place Canadians.

Bussey scored at 18:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury and again while 19:14 into the third to make the score 4-1 Hawkesbury.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Carleton Place faces elimination next time out.

The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Carleton Place power plays. The Canadians were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Hawkesbury also got a goal from Remi Elie as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Carl Faucher, who had two and Philippe Saviuk, Yanik Laliberte, Nick Samoluk, and Holden Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their eight power plays.

The Canadians were led by Ben Murphy, who scored the team's only goal. Murphy scored 11:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Christian Weidauer assisted on the tally.

Carmine Guerriero made 28 saves for Hawkesbury on 29 shots. Brodie Barrick recorded 28 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
