Guerriero stymies Carleton Place, Hawkesbury wins 4-1

Carmine Guerriero had a standout game with 42 saves, and the Hawkesbury Hawks beat the Carleton Place Canadians 4-1.

The win gave Hawkesbury a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Hawks were led by Yanik Laliberte, who finished with one goal. Laliberte scored 3:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. Remi Elie provided the assist.

Hawkesbury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Sebastian Meltzer also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Philippe Saviuk, Francis Landers, Stephen Hrehoriak, Carl Faucher, Holden Anderson, Stefano Momesso, and Anthony Sanniti, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 43 shots on the Hawks' net. The Canadians struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Hawkesbury to score two power play goals on three chances.

The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Carleton Place's starting goalie, Joe Yetman, made 19 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brodie Barrick, who stopped five shots. The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
